Alberto Puig was strong in his criticism of Marco Simoncelli following an incident during the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France on Sunday. The Italian rider was given a ride through penalty for a manoeuvre on Dani Pedrosa which caused the Spaniard to crash, a fall which resulted in a broken right collarbone for the Repsol Honda rider.

MotoGP News - Stoner and Dovizioso score Honda one-two at Le Mans
Casey Stoner (Repsol Honda RC212V) scored his second MotoGP victory on a Honda in today’s French Grand Prix to move into second place in the World Championship point standings. Team-mate Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda RC212V) scored a fine second-place finish to secure a brilliant one-two for Repsol Honda.
But what could have been a perfect day for the team was spoiled by a mid-race incident, which saw the luckless Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda RC212V) crash and break a collarbone after tangling with Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini RC212V). Simoncelli was subsequently punished with a ride-through penalty that demoted him from second place to fifth.

Top level sport needs drama and that is exactly what we got on the eighth lap of the Spanish Grand Prix. For the first time in Rossi’s brief Ducati career, it seemed the bike was actually working to his liking. A podium or even a victory seemed possible, a bet that no one in the paddock would have taken after Saturday’s qualifying practice. As he went down the pit straight, Rossi tried to brake as late as possible, something that had never seemed too difficult for him while riding his ex-lover, the Yamaha M1. The GP11 Ducati, however, is not that smooth, gentle Yamaha and even in the hands of a nine-time world champion the front end folded going into turn one. What happened after that will be talked about for days, months and years to come.

Australia MotoGP: Dani Pedrosa to Return | Motorcycle News
After missing the last two MotoGP races at Japan and Malaysia due to injury, Dani Pedrosa is set to make his return at Phillip Island for the Australian Grand Prix.
The Repsol Honda rider missed those rounds due to breaking his shoulder at the practice-session crash in Motegi. During the wreck, in which the accelerator became stuck on his Honda RC212V, the 24-year-old Spaniard sustained a double fracture to his left collarbone.

MAIDS Report - In-depth Investigation of Motorcycle Accidents
Take a look at the MAIDS website and read the interesting conclusions of this exhaustive study. In the quote below PTW means Powered Two Wheeler and OV means Other Vehicle.
The PTW accident data collected in this study indicated that the object most frequently struck in an accident was a passenger car. The second most frequently struck object was the roadway itself, either as the result of a single vehicle accident or of an attempt to avoid a collision with an OV. Whilst each sampling area contained both urban and rural areas, the majority of the accidents took place in an urban environment.
Travelling and impact speeds for all PTW categories were found to be quite low, most often below 50 km/h. There were relatively few cases in which excess speed was an issue related to accident causation. The cause of the majority of PTW accidents collected in this study was found to be human error. The most frequent human error was a failure to see the PTW within the traffic environment, due to lack of driver attention, temporary view obstructions or the low conspicuity of the PTW.

Lorenzo's Le Mans Practice Crash
