The FIM has announced the provisional entry list for the 2012 MotoGP World Championship, which gets underway on April 8th with the opening round in Qatar. The provisional list is as follows:

Is Pedrosa going to get his first MotoGP Championship this year?
Alberto Puig was strong in his criticism of Marco Simoncelli following an incident during the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France on Sunday. The Italian rider was given a ride through penalty for a manoeuvre on Dani Pedrosa which caused the Spaniard to crash, a fall which resulted in a broken right collarbone for the Repsol Honda rider.
Casey Stoner (Repsol Honda RC212V) scored his second MotoGP victory on a Honda in today’s French Grand Prix to move into second place in the World Championship point standings. Team-mate Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda RC212V) scored a fine second-place finish to secure a brilliant one-two for Repsol Honda.
But what could have been a perfect day for the team was spoiled by a mid-race incident, which saw the luckless Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda RC212V) crash and break a collarbone after tangling with Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini RC212V). Simoncelli was subsequently punished with a ride-through penalty that demoted him from second place to fifth.

El piloto australiano ha conseguido un fantástico triunfo en su debut con el Repsol Honda Team y ha sido acompañado por Pedrosa en el podio, al acabar el español en tercera posición el GP de Catar. Andrea Dovizioso ha conseguido un meritorio cuarto puesto después de un apasionante duelo con Simoncelli.

Casey Stoner (Repsol Honda) had a titanic tussle with his Repsol Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa at the Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar in the first round of the 2011 MotoGP World Championship to snatch 25 points on his debut ride with Repsol Honda. Stoner finished 3.440 seconds ahead of second placed Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha Factory Racing).
Now that the 2010 MotoGP season is over, Pedrosa will have his injury checked again, and could possibly undergo another surgery.
"[On Thursday] I will go to the doctor again to have a CAT scan, an MRI scan and vascular tests to find out what's wrong with my shoulder," Pedrosa said. "I don't know yet if I will need more surgery, but if it's necessary I will do it.”
After missing the last two MotoGP races at Japan and Malaysia due to injury, Dani Pedrosa is set to make his return at Phillip Island for the Australian Grand Prix.
The Repsol Honda rider missed those rounds due to breaking his shoulder at the practice-session crash in Motegi. During the wreck, in which the accelerator became stuck on his Honda RC212V, the 24-year-old Spaniard sustained a double fracture to his left collarbone.

I wish I could write today after a very different Japanese Grand Prix, but this is sport. Now that I have spent a couple of days since the fall and the operation, I can tell you that I am well and thinking how to recover to return as soon as possible to the circuits. I can not tell when it will be, because, from experience, I know that recovery time can vary and that it all depends on how things evolve in the coming days.
Yes I can tell you that I will start rehabilitation soon, without focusing on a return date. We want to see how it evolves in the coming days the injury, and from there, start thinking about returning to the circuit. The important thing is to recover well.

For once I was glad I wasn’t at the track alongside the 88,500 fans that watched the Catalunya MotoGP. There is no way I could have got the view that the BBC gave me watching Lorenzo and Rossi in the most closely fought race of the season. Valentino Rossi commented on Jorge Lorenzo taking pole position for the race that maybe if he had gone to the toilet before the final qualifying session he would have been on pole instead, it was that close.
For a couple of the corners it was sharp intakes of breath for the viewers as it looked almost certain that their desire to win was going to leave them both face down in the gravel. The superb Yamahas kept their grip and on the last corner of the last lap Rossi nipped through to take the victory. As Rossi commented at the press conference - “Mama Mia”!!
Stoner, suffering with some sort of bug, came in third battling to hold off Dovizioso. Capirossi had a great result coming in 5th ahead of the injured Pedrosa.
The overall results show that there are now three joint leaders of the MotoGP World Championship – Lorenzo, Rossi and Stoner – now that’s what you call close.
OK, I know I should have written the report earlier but I've been busy digging a very long trench over very rocky ground for my new mains water pipe.

Ask a dozen riders what their favorite race was, and you'll get a dozen different answers. But as different as those answers may be, in the end, they divide out into two camps. On the one hand, there are the Racers, the riders who love nothing more than to battle with their rivals all race long, only to pass them in the final corner and go on to take the win. On the other, there are the Winners, the riders who only care about getting away from the pack and dominating the opposition. The Racers love to win by fractions of a second, the Winners love to win by minutes.
This issue doesn't just divide racers, it also divides fans. Some enjoy nothing more than watching their favorite rider put in lap after perfect lap, gapping the competition by a second or more every time the cross the line. To them, their pleasure in racing is in watching a motorcycle being ridden as fast as humanly possible, the rider attempting to ride the bike at its very limit every inch of the track. For these fans, riders are like brain surgeons, exercising their skill to the utmost of their ability.
Other fans come to see combat, and want to see as many riders as possible dicing for the lead throughout the race. For them, the perfect race was one where the lead changed twice at every corner, only for their favorite rider to triumph in the end, edging their front wheel over the line ahead of the competition by just the thickness of the tire. To this kind of fan, the riders are gladiators, the winner decided in mortal combat by a mixture of skill, cunning and brute force, in varying proportions.
Dani Pedrosa ran the best times in the morning and afternoon free practices. Second fastest in the combined results was Loris Capirossi, followed by Rossi and Stoner. The top four were seperated by less than 1 tenth of a second.
Bad news for Jorge Lorenzo again with another fall which seems to have fractured one of his fingers and done more damage to one of his ankles. It can't be put down to Lorenzo's previous injuries that he came off again as almost half the riders had falls in the two practice sessions.
