Another Awesome Jet Bike From Bob Maddox | Autopia | Wired.com

Autopia’s official daredevil Bob Maddox is at it again, with a new jet bike so hot we almost singed our eyebrows looking at the pictures.

The self-proclaimed “Rocketman” built the latest bike for a bike racer in Illinois who got sponsorship from a local bike-themed restaurant. According to Maddox, who did five test runs on the bike before handing it over to its new owner, it does 0-60 in “maybe five seconds.” Handling is “smooth and stable,” although it’s so powerful that it “wants to pull your arms off.”

Great Family Story

Spanish to English translation

I wish I could write today after a very different Japanese Grand Prix, but this is sport.  Now that I have spent a couple of days since the fall and the operation, I can tell you that I am well and thinking how to recover to return as soon as possible to the circuits. I can not tell when it will be, because, from experience, I know that recovery time can vary and that it all depends on how things evolve in the coming days.

Yes I can tell you that I will start rehabilitation soon, without focusing on a return date. We want to see how it evolves in the coming days the injury, and from there, start thinking about returning to the circuit. The important thing is to recover well.

There was an overwhelming sadness at Misano as riders and teams expressed their sorrow at the tragic death on Sunday of Japanese rider Shoya Tomizawa.

The untimely passing away of Shoya Tomizawa on Sunday provoked an array of sad reactions from the MotoGP paddock, as the sport lost a talented rider and one of its most popular figures.

Nineteen year-old Tomizawa, the first rider ever to win a Moto2 race at the start of the season, was a highly charismatic, friendly and well-liked person and tributes to him were paid by those who had been fortunate to experience his fantastic persona."

Rossi set for another Superbike test - Yahoo! Eurosport:

"Valentino Rossi will come closer to deciding whether to race in this week’s German Grand Prix after arranging a second Superbike test at Brno.

Rossi returned to testing action last week aboard the Yamaha R1 at Misano just a month after breaking his leg in an accident during the Italian Grand Prix.

Setting a best lap of 1min 38.2secs, the Italian admitted he is still lacks fitness, but is eager to get back to competition sooner rather than later.

Naming the Sachsenring as the venue for a potential return in less than a week’s time, according to GPOne, Rossi will undergo another test at Brno today [Monday] to give him a better idea of whether to target Germany or wait until the Czech event in just over a month’s time."

"Worst england game ever.. I'm still bouncing this morn..lazy over paid twats..!"

Come on now Carl, don't hold back!

BBC - Jennie Gow: Perky Pedrosa lights up Silverstone

"Riders for Health, which aims to provide reliable transport to aid workers in Africa, hosts a charity day called Day of Champions, raising thousands of pounds by auctioning all sorts of rider merchandise and memorabilia.

Our very own Steve Parrish and Matt Roberts took to the stage several times to entertain the crowd. Then in the afternoon it was time for the real money-making to begin with Valentino Rossi paintings and Dani Pedrosa's boots just some of the items going under the hammer.

It was just before he took to the stage that I met up with Pedrosa, who won at Mugello last time out. Now, I have to be honest with you, Pedrosa has a reputation of being a little sullen and has always shied away from the media. He does not have the natural charisma that someone like Valentino Rossi or Jorge Lorenzo has. Nevertheless, he is undoubtedly one of the best riders in the world, preferring to do his talking on the track."

Hello family and friends,

First, my apologies to those who’ve been asking for the usual, daily updates I’ve been writing throughout the past few TT fortnights—rest assured this year’s TT was again packed with enough intrigue, highs, lows, and deception that its narrative seems more fitted to an action-packed mystery novel than a motorcycle racing meet.

If you like, here’s the complete story, all in one go:

Strange things transpired in the weeks leading up to this year’s TT, beginning with my would-be Superbike team getting robbed.

Harley-Davidson Troubles

The last quarter of 2009 brought about financial turmoil for Harley-Davidson Inc., as the iconic American motorcycle brand reported its first quarterly loss in 16 years.

The deficit: $218.7 million. A massive number in any industry, but it didn't stop the Motor Company's CEO from receiving an incredible pay package during his first eight months on the new job.

Keith E. Wandell's pay package? $6.4 million, which reportedly included a base salary of $650,025 from his start day of May 1 through the end of 2009, a bonus of $780,030 and stock and option awards valued at $4.9 million. It was reported that Wandell also received other compensation worth $22,515, which includes a cash payment of $19,733 instead of perquisites.
